While working on the latest version of Matrix Builder, one question kept running through my mind - one that you’ve probably asked yourself too: Is Jimdo still a good choice for building websites in 2025?

With so many powerful alternatives like WordPress + Elementor, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, and even AI-powered website builders, Jimdo doesn’t always come to mind as the first option. However, despite the competition, there are compelling reasons why I’ve chosen to develop and enhance the latest version of Matrix Builder for Jimdo.

Developing a UI and plugin framework for Jimdo in 2025 might feel like upgrading the engine of a classic car - reliable, but not the first choice for most. There’s nothing wrong with using a well-built, older model, and some people still prefer it for their own reasons. Similarly, while Jimdo may not be the most cutting-edge platform, it still has a dedicated user base. Below, I’ll explain the key reason why I’ve chosen to continue improving Matrix Builder for Jimdo.

The latest version of Matrix Builder introduces numerous new features and significant improvements. One of the biggest changes is the removal of the Style Editor installation, which was required in previous versions.

Previously, the Style Editor was used primarily for global color settings. Now, the process is much more straightforward - you simply define your colors in the root style within the head section. This eliminates unnecessary steps, making setup faster and more efficient.

The latest release introduces a redesigned admin menu with several enhancements:

• More Custom Widgets – Recently updated and improved, offering greater flexibility for designing your website.
• New "Animations" Section – Find various animation effects in one place, making it easier to add engaging motion to your site.
• Enhanced Media Library – Get access to free stock images, patterns, blobs, masks, and other valuable design resources to enhance your website's visual appeal.

The Documentation section is now available in six languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. While some sections are still under construction and translations may not yet be perfect, the core concepts are well-explained and can be a valuable resource for users worldwide.
